You’re Never Too Busy for Weight Loss!

If you’re one of the millions of people juggling demanding careers, families and hobbies and find little or no time to focus on such things as weight loss, fitness routines and healthy cooking, you might just be on the right page. Maybe you travel frequently and thrive entirely on flight and hotel food. Or you’re too depleted with your daily chores and ensuring your toddlers get the best of everything to take care of your own health.

Fret not. Weight loss doesn’t mean poring over specially written recipe books for dieters, spending hours in the supermarket trying to get hold of a particular brand of corn syrup or sweating it out at a gym every day. Since the challenge you face is a universal problem, we have put together a list of points to assure you that weight loss for busy people is very much an achievable goal.

It’s really not about fad diets or magic pills and other instant remedies that promise to get you into your old pair of jeans in a couple of weeks. Anyone who has ever tried one of those things before will assure you that it does not last. What you need to focus on is getting essential nutrition in your diet without loading your plate with empty calories. Empty calories are precisely that – they make you pile on the fat without giving you little or nothing by way of sustenance.1

So if you think about it, you really don’t need to attend a seminar or read a book to know that too much sugar and dairy products aren’t exactly good for you if you’re above the age of 30 and not at all advisable as any more than an occasional treat if you’re above the age of 35. You don’t need your doctor to tell you that smoking will char your lungs or that excessive alcohol will be hard on your liver. We know everything there is to know. We’re just too busy to apply it. So here are some simple weight loss tips for busy people that we hope will get you started on your way to excellent health, ideal weight and a high fitness level.

Drink more water

You can’t hear that enough. Your entire constitution depends on how hydrated you are. Rob the body of water and you rob it of energy, health and ultimately, life! There is a reason water is called the elixir of life. It not only keeps you healthy and makes your skin glow, it’s the best way to accelerate your weight loss results. It’s probably the easiest and most important weight loss tip for busy people. Whether you’re at your desk, in a meeting, on a call or at home, it is the simplest thing to keep a bottle of pure water by your side and keep sipping from it!

Water is the thing that balances your body’s chemistry and is therefore the one thing you need to pay most attention to. A water reduction of a mere 1 percent in the body leads to thirst.2  If you’re on a weight loss regime, you need at least 7 ounces of water for every 10 pounds of body weight. You need even more if you work out, live in a hot place or your job involves a lot of physical activity.

Of course, just like any new habit you develop, go slow initially and build it to the ideal requirement. And you’ll see just why we say it’s one of the most handy weight loss tips for busy people!

Deal with the craving

It’s easier said than done. Most people give up on their weight loss programs because they can’t resist the big slab of blueberry cheesecake in the counter when they go in looking for wholegrain bread. Also, weight loss for busy people is tough business given that you tend to reach for whatever is available when you feel the hunger pangs coming because you don’t really have the time to get yourself something healthy.

So here’s the thing – when you go to the supermarket, buy a big bag of pre cut vegetables and load your fridge with it. Get a tasty dip of your choice and keep it ready in the fridge. When you feel those pangs beginning to rise in your stomach, go for the fridge and fill yourself to your heart’s content. There’s no going wrong with veggies! Not only do you immediately deal with your craving and put an end to those hunger pangs, you also supply your body with essential nutrients which give you the added benefit of great skin, healthy hair and the vitality you need to go about your daily routine.

It’s important to stay away from artificial sweeteners too because they can actually contribute to weight gain by keeping sugar cravings alive.3

Find creative ways to work out

If you can’t commit to a serious exercise regimen or even find time for regular morning and evening walks, it doesn’t mean you should give up on weight loss. Weight loss for busy people can be particularly hard because exercise is one of the most important elements of a good weight loss program and you’ll definitely need enough cardiovascular workouts to get you to your ideal weight and ensure you stay there.  But don’t give up just yet!

Find creative ways to make the best of your routine – Do you drive to the nearby supermarket? Take a walk instead! With your frequent meetings and travels abroad, you’re sure to take the elevator all the time. Take the stairs instead. It might seem like nothing, but these baby steps are the ones that make weight loss for busy people even possible.
